  1. Who is involved in supporting this project?

  2. The project is beginning in Cork and to date is being endorsed and supported by by Bord Gáis Eireann, Plato Cork, the Cork Chamber of Commerce, the Cork Business Association and Waterford Chamber. However no one body has ownership of this project.

  3. What is the idea about?

  4. This is an effort to harness the willingness and enthusiasm of successful business people, who want to support the many small businesses that are struggling at present. This project is about linking up people who have good advice to give and those who could do with a helping hand in their business. Most importantly this is about providing practical, free advice to small businesses that need help or guidance.

  5. What can I expect from an Adviser in terms of help?

  6. It is important to note that this is not detailed business mentoring service that involves many hours of meetings and work. It is not a free management consultancy service that will produce a new business plan for you. It is more about having a straight talking, supportive, practical advice meeting with someone who you can trust to discuss and go through the challenges your business is facing.

  7. Who can apply for Help under this project?

  8. Any small business person can apply. As long as you employ less than 20 people you qualify as a small business. Maybe you run a hair salon, a corner shop, a fashion boutique, an electrical contracting business, a restaurant, an architect firm etc…… whatever the business we may be able to help give advice on improving your business.

  9. Who are these ADVISERS volunteering for smallbusinessadvice.ie?

  10. The ADVISERS are people with experience in a broad range of successful business activity. They are men and women, some retired, some still in business. They have volunteered to be part of this project, by committing their time, without charge, in order to support small business owners who can benefit from their advice and experience.

  11. How much will it cost me?

  12. There is no charge associated with applying for an adviser and there is no fee for the advice given. This is an entirely voluntary service providing free advice for your business.
